Windcontroller.info by FrankWillems.com aimes to be the information source on everything that relates to wind controllers, a.k.a electronic wind instruments or digital wind instruments.

I am Frank Willems (1965 – Bladel, the Netherlands) and started playing the alto saxophone when I was 11 years old at the local concert band. For many years, I played soprano, alto and tenor saxophone in different concert bands, sax ensembles, (jazz) bands, big bands and more. I never was a professional musician in the sense that I made my living playing music, but always had a professional attitude when it comes to being a musician. In 2001, I bought my first wind controller, the Yamaha WX5 together with the Yamaha VL70-m sound module. I’ve played the wind controller in bands and, more recently, in pit orchestras in local musical productions. Ever since buying the wind controller my attention gradually shifted from saxophones to wind controller to the point, a number of years ago, that I never touch the saxophones anymore.
Even though I work in marketing and (general) management, I started my working life in electronics. This background contributed to my love for the wind controller; not afraid of technology and embracing the endless possibilities and even extending these possibilities to newer levels.
This website succeeds my old website that hadn’t been updated for over 12 years, but still got quite a few visitors. In the meantime, the industry and possibilities have changed and I have explored different fields. With the growth of my wind controller collection and sound modules, my knowledge increased. Over the years, I have been active in a few wind controller forums that nowadays mainly run through Facebook groups. With this website I want to give newbies as well as experienced players a source for information and knowledge. I want this website to be as objective as possible while knowing that full objectivity can’t be achieved as I have created my own preferences over time.
You can help me keeping this website relevant by telling me about mistakes, missed information and interesting developments that would benefit the wind controller community and/or this website.

Commercial activities through this website will be limited to generating some money to pay for the cost of running a website. This could either be through, advertisements the sale of wind controller releated products I designed or produced or affiliate programs.
